Mental Health, Hard Times, & Addiction.
Our Fight against Addiction and Mental Health Stigma.
Mental health problems, hard times, and addiction. These are all things that effect, or have effected, Branden Rockriver, the owner of Rockriver. The largest and most recent are mental health issues and addiction.
Branden has struggled with depression and anxiety since he was a child and was always afraid to ask for help. However, life has a way of making you do things that you should have done a long time ago. Within the first six months of 2018 Branden had two friends pass away from drug related health problems or outright overdose. In the three years before 2018 five other friends passed away due to addiction. After dealing with this on his own for so long he decided to get professional help and his world opened up to just how necessary counseling and other forms of assistance are to those in need.
He began to talk to others about their struggles with depression, anxiety, addiction and mental health. What he found out is that there are little to no outlets for those in need, even less information, and most who need help feel ashamed to look for it. So, he started looking and he found a handful of charities that strive to make a real impact on these issues. Then he got a call, in late may of 2018, saying that an old co-worker of his committed suicide.
She was yet another victim of a two part epidemic that is crippling society. His friends, family, and loved ones deserved better. Everyone deserves better. We all deserve a chance at happiness. And that's when it hit him. He has the perfect tool to help these charities. It was his small, hand-made, pomade and beard oil company, that he started back in 2014. That is how he could help. And it was that idea that changed everything.
As of June 1st 2018 we at Rockriver donate up to 5% of every order to charities working to end drug addiction, and end the stigma surrounding mental health issues. We honestly believe that through the products that we use to look good and smell good that we can change the world. Help us end addiction, bring people back from darkness, and save peoples lives. Together, we can make a difference.
